East of Scotland Girls Spring Meeting
Eighteen competitors played in the East of Scotland Girls Spring Meeting held at Longniddry today. Scottish Girls Champion, Krystle Caithness (St Regulus) , returned a two-over par 75 in cold and blustery conditions to win the scratch award by four shots from Jane Turner (Glencorse). Two under at the turn, Krystle had a double bogey at the 11th and then an upsetting episode at the 14th, where her ball was plugged in a bunker which should have been marked as Ground Under Repair, gave her a double bogey 7 at a hole where she might have picked up a birdie, and rather spoilt her score. Krystle finished bogey, birdie, par, par for a 75.
Jane had nothing but pars and bogeys on her card of 79, no sixes and only one three. It was very easy to add up.
The overall handicap prize went to Patricia Watt (Lundin Ladies, 33) who had a net 64. The U18 age group handicap prize was won by Arlene McGarty (Bathgate, 14) with a net 72. Cathy Wood (Linlithgow, 30) won the Under 16 handicap prize with a net 69 and Camilla Tait (St Regulus, 20) won the Under 14 prize with a net 73. The CSS went down one to 72.
