PILGRIM PROGRESSES TO ANOTHER TOP-10 FINISH
FORMER Welsh amateur international Eleanor Pilgrim, pictured right, now a rookie professional, achieved her third top-10 finish in a row with joint sixth place in the Indonesia Ladies Open which ended at Pantai Indah Kapuk Golf Club, Jakarta today.

ELGA APPOINT NEW SECRETARY/CEO
The English LadiesÌ Golf Association is very pleased to announce that Pauline Perla has been appointed to the position of Secretary/CEO with immediate effect.
ELGA Chairman, Joy Hunter said, ÏWe are absolutely delighted to have secured PaulineÌs services. She has worked for the Association for nearly five years, firstly as Assistant Secretary and latterly as Administration Manager. Pauline has already made a significant contribution to many aspects of the organisationÌs operation and to the identification of the strategic steps necessary to move the Association forwardÓ.
Commenting on her new appointment Pauline said Ï The last few years have been very exciting with many changes taking place and there is still a great deal to be done. I look forward to the challenge of continuing the progressionÓ.

NORWEGIAN VIBEKE SHARES LEAD IN INDONESIA
Norwegian Vibeke Stensrud, 29, from Oslo is hot on the trail of her first win as a professional golfer.
She shot a two-under-par 70 (36-34) in the second round today (Thursday) for a 36-hole aggregate of one-under-par 143 to share the lead with Hyun-Soon Park from Korea with 18 holes to go in the chase for the 10,500 US dollars first prize in the Indonesia Ladies Open championship at Pantai Indah Kapuk Golf Club, Jakarta. LGU AGM
The LGU AGM was held at the Thistel Hotel, Glasgow today. Maureen Lockett, the retiring Chairman of the Executive Council, gave a witty and informative report of the year's events. Ireland's Ada O'Sullivan, the next Vagliano and Curtis Cup Captain was presented with her Captain's badge by Sue Johnston, President of the LGU. Bridget Jackson, immediate past President was elected as an Honorary Vice-President. "The History of Ladies Golf" was the topic chosen by the Guest Speaker, and I hope that those that were there enjoyed it!

Connie Lugton
The funeral of Connie Lugton will be held on Friday 24th January at 11:00am in the Lorimer Chapel, Warriston Crematorium, Edinburgh

The LGU are holding their AGM tomorrow (22nd) at the Thistle Hotel, Cambridge Street, Glasgow. It's not often that this is held in Scotland, so come along if you can. Fingers crossed that the guest speaker will be good!

It is with much sadness that I report the death, yesterday, of Connie Lugton, past Scottish Champion and Scottish Team Captain. She will be deeply missed by all her friends. Obituary

Change of format for South Division Inter-County matches
The South Division are going to hold their Inter-county matches over one weekend, 28-30 June. There are only three counties viz. Dumfriesshire, Galloway and Borders, and therefore one county will have to sit out on each of the three days. This is a trial for three years, i.e. each county will take a turn at hosting it. It is Dumfrieshire's turn first, and it will be held at Southerness. The County Captains are very enthusiastic about the new format, which will relieve the pressure on having to find venues and pick teams for individual county matches and make the whole thing much more of an occasion for all involved. They must be very friendly bunch in the South.... for they plan to have a dinner on the Saturday night... other divisions take note!!

SGU AND NGA FACE THE CHALLENGES OF THE FUTURE
A new raft of measures to further promote the game of golf in Scotland is to be undertaken by the Scottish Golf Union ("SGU"), it has been announced. Press Release

Gleneagles freeze green fees
GLENEAGLES Hotel's scale of golf green fees is being frozen until April 2004 (REPEAT 2004). This means that in the peak golf months, May to September, the cost of a visitor's round over either the PGA Centenary, King's or Queen's courses will remain at £110 (£90 for residents).
