SJAVON WINS NORTH GIRLS TITLE.
PORTLETHEN
Academy pupil Sjavon Wilson used her local knowledge to win the North
of Scotland girls golf championship for the first time at Brechin Golf
Club on Sunday 25th August.
Although joining Murcar Golf Club earlier this year to gain experience
of links golf, Sjavon has retained her membership at Brechin which was
her first club and where her mother Sheila is still ladies' captain.
Miss Wilson did not think she had played particularly well for a round
of 83 but the very fast greens caught out many of her rivals and she won
by one stroke from Angus women's county champion and Scotland girl international,
Dawn Dewar (Monifieth), Kerri Harper, who has been Inverness women's club
champion for the past two years, and Katie Thomson (Kintore).
Karen Murray (Alford) won the Jean Law Salver for the best net score,
a 70 off 20 of a handicap.
