LINDSEY FINISHES ON A HIGH NOTE
Dalmahoy Golf Club junior member Lindsey Hunter, representing Scotland
in the girls' section of the R&A Junior Under-16 Open at Royal Musselburgh
Golf Club, finished on a high note with a round of 78 for a 36-hole total
of 159.
Allowing for Lindsey's 13 of a handicap, she really had an excellent two
days with net scores of 68 and 65.
"I played a lot better today," said 12-year-old Lindsey after
her 78 today in miserably cold and wet conditions. "I was out in
39 and back in 39 with one birdie so I was quite pleased."
For her the active side of the tournament is over. Only those with handicaps
of three or less play the final 18 holes on Wednesday morning.
But there is still plenty for Lindsey to look forward to in the week's
programme organised for competitors by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club.
On Wednesday afternoon there will be a coaching clinic by the world-famous
coach, David Leadbetter.
On Thursday, the group will go along to the first day of the Open championship
at Muirfield with special emphasis on watching the players on the practice
ground.
On Friday, they will head north to Drumoig and the Scottish National Golf
Centre followed by a visit to the R&A clubhouse at St Andrews and
the neighbouring British Golf Museum.
On Saturday and Sunday it will be back to Muirfield for the closing days
of the Open.
