FOUR NEW CAPS IN SCOTLAND TEAM
FOR GIRLS' HOME INTERNATIONALS

There are four new caps in the Scotland team for the girls' home international matches at The Hermitage Golf Club, near Dublin from August 13 to 15.
They are Kelly Brotherton (Tulliallan), Clare-Marie Carlton (Fereneze), Lesley Hendry (Routenburn) and Gemma Webster (Hilton Park).
Kelly played in the recent Scotland v England schools international at Royal Birkdale and was fifth qualifier for the match-play stages in the BP Scottish girls championship at Powfoot Golf Club last week. She lost by 5 and 4 to Clare-Marie Carlton in the second round.
Clare-Marie, the No 12 qualifier, went on to reach the semi-finals where she was twice three up on Gemma Webster on the outward half before losing by 2 and 1 to the Hilton Park player.
Lesley Hendry was the No 7 qualifier at Powfoot and had a good run through to the quarter-finals where she lost at the 19th to the No 2 seed, Dawn Dewar (Monifieth).
Gemma Webster was the surprise packet of the 2002 BP Scottish girls championship. She qualified in 16th place but beat Sharon Main (Moray) with the help of a late hole in one, knocked out the No 1 seed Jenna Wilson (Strathaven), then produced five gross birdies in a seven-hole run in beating Kerri Harper from Inverness, after which she came with a fine inward half to overhaul Clare-Marie Carlton in the semi-finals and then was a gallant loser by 2 and 1 to Laura Walker in the final.
