Scotland are through in fifth place and face Italy tomorrow

SCOTLAND qualified in fifth place for the top match-play flight of the European junior women's team golf championship at Moscow Golf and Country Club, Russia yesterday (Wed).
England, who had been second last in the field of 13 countries after one round, pulled themselves up to qualify in sixth place with an 18-shot improvement compared with the opening day team total (370 to 388).
The Scots did not have so many scores in the low 70s as they had in the first qualifying round. British girls champion Clare Queen was the exception. Her score of 72 was five ahead of next best Vikki Laing and Pam Feggans, both on 77, with Louise Kenney and Susannah Laing the other counting scores on 78.
Jenna Wilson had the discarded score of 81 under the best five from six to count format.
Scotland's second-round team total was 382 compared with 374 in the first round.
Germany earned the No 1 seed berth with a total of 728, six ahead of Spain with Sweden third on 749 and Italy, the defending champions, fourth on 753.
Italy are Scotland's opponents in the first round of the sudden death match-play today (Thu).
Wales and Ireland finished 10th and last of 13 respectively and will play in the second (non-championship) flight.
