ENGLISH LADIES' GOLF ASSOCIATION
STRONG FIELDS FOR THE UNDER 15 & UNDER 13 CHAMPIONSHIPS
32 girls will play in the Under 15 Championship taking place at Knott
End Golf Club next week.
Like the Girls Championship being played at Fairhaven at the same time,
the entry was oversubscribed and only girls with an exact handicap of
12.1 or less will be playing.
The lowest handicapped competitor is Carolina Andrade (Burnham & Berrow)
playing off 3, while other leading competitors include Melissa Reid (Chevin)
who recently represented England at the European Girls Team Championship
and Felicity Johnson (Harborne), the current Warwickshire Champion.
The Under 15 Championship starts on Tuesday 30 July with 2 rounds of
qualifying and concludes with the finals of both the Championship and
Flight 2 on Thursday afternoon.
Starting on Monday 29 and also concluding on the Thursday is the Under
13 Championship which includes several single figure handicap golfers
including Henrietta Brockway (Yeovil), Florentyna Parker (Royal Birkdale)
and Kiran Matharu (Sand Moor)
Monday 29 July is also the final of ELGA's Abraham Trophy Competition
at which the 20 girls from around the country with the best average nett
scores in relation to the LGU Scratch Score of the courses played - taken
from their best six nett scores between 1st May 2001 and 30th April 2002
will be competing.
