NEW DATE SOUGHT FOR SOUTH OF SCOTLAND WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP
DUMFRIES-SHIRE county secretary Mary Greig says she will have a problem
finding a new date for the South of Scotland women's championship which
was called off when the chosen venue, Dumfries & Galloway Golf Club, was
closed last Friday due to flooding of the course and high winds.
The 18-hole competition should have been played on the Saturday.
"There are so many events on the golfing calendar these days that it
is difficult to find a spare slot for a rearrangement. But I am working
on it and I will announced the new arrangements when they are finalised,"
said Miss Greig.
Last year's South of Scotland championship was won by Addi Shamash, a
20-year-old Kirkcudbright player, who had rounds of 71 and 75 for an aggregate
of 146, four over the combined CSS for the day at Portpatrick Dunskey
Golf Club. Home course player Mrs Stella Booth was runner-up with rounds
of 75 and 76 for 151.
