DUMFRIES-SHIRE WOMEN'S COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP _ Powfoot Golf Club _ Final (36 holes) _ F Macgregor (Thornhill) beat D Macdonald (Dumfries & Co) 2 and 1.

FIONA Macgregor, who played junior golf with European Tour player Andrew Coltart when he was a member of Thornhill Golf Club, won the Dumfries-shire women's county championship for the first time on Saturday.
Fiona beat four-times previous title-winner Diane Macdonald (Dumfries & Co) by 2 and 1 in the 36-hole final after being two down over the first nine holes. By the end of the first round Fiona had established a one-hole lead which she never relinquished in a close contest.
Diane was three holes down at one stage in the afternoon but cut the deficit to one with two holes to play.
Fiona won the 17th for the match and the title.
