Sian James and Liam Ball lead British universities'

stroke-play championships at Dundonald Links

Defending champion Sian James (Birmingham University) had a one-stroke lead over Jane Turner (Robert Gordon University) at the end of the first round of the British Universities & Colleges women's stroke-play championship at Dundonald Links today.
Sian had a round of 75, three over the women's par but one under the day's CSS
In the men's event, last man in Liam Ball (Central Lancashire) took the lead with a 70, dislodging clubhouse joint leaders Josh Moses (Bournemouth) and Colin Thomson (Stirling).
