KELSEY'S CONQUEROR RETAINS FRENCH U21 TITLE
Ireland's 15-year-old Leona Maguire, conqueror of Scottish Under-21 champion Kelsey MacDonald (Nairn Dunbar) by 2 and 1 in the first round, retained the French Under-21 girls golf championship at Paris St Cloud Golf Club today.
The twin from the Slieve Russell club beat Norway's Tonje Daffinrud by 3 and 2 in the 36-hole final.
Kelsey, the No 32 qualifier for the match-play stages, gave Leona, the No 1 seed, arguably her toughest test of the championship, which should count in her favour with the GB&I Curtis Cup team selectors.
