Jodi finishes joint sixth in Windy

City Collegiate Championship

Jodi Ewart from Catterick, arguably the highest-ranked British player on the US college circuits - male or female - had to settle for a share of sixth place in the Windy City Collegiate Championship at The Glen Club, Glenview in Illinois today.
Over a par-72 course of some 6,286yd, the New Mexico University student, pictured right at Harlech in June by Cal Carson Golf Agency, couldn't get the birdie putts to drop in a final round of two-over-par 74.
She managed only one birdie, not enough to offset three bogeys.
She had four birdies in her second round, which also included a rare double bogey 6, at the eighth, and three birdies in her first round.
That double bogey cost Jodi fourth or fifth place in the final analysis behind the Canadian-born winner, Maude-Aimee LeBlanc (Purdue) who scored 68, 69 and 74 for five-under-par 211. She finished a shot ahead of Ashley Bauer (Michigan) (71-72-69).
Jodi Ewart had her problems but they were nothing compared with the sort of tournament fellow England international Ellis Keenan from Sunningdale, a freshman at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, had.
Ellis finished way down the field in 65th place with a total of 236, made up of seesaw rounds of 80, 72 and 84. She had an uncharacteristic five double bogeys over the three rounds, two of them over her last nine holes which required 43 strokes. She had no birdies over the final 18 holes after having six of them over the first two rounds.
Purdue (860) won the team title ahead of Tulane (874) with Arizona (885) third of 15 teams.
New Mexico (890) finished joint sixth.
