Stephanie Meadow chooses

University of Alabama

for August 2010 start

Stephanie Meadow, the rising teenage star from Northern Ireland, based in the United States as a student at the Hank Haney Junior International Golf Academy at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, has made up her mind about which United States university she is going to go to next August.
Stephanie and her parents had a range of leading American colleges keen to add the name of one of America's top 10 girl golfers to their roster. They have plumped for the University of Alabama.
Stephanie, who is in the GB&I preliminary squad for next year's Curtis Cup match in the States, finished 13th at the recent Ping Invitational in a field of the top 27 girls in the United States.
The event was held over Oklahoma State University's course at Karsten Creek, Stillwatter.
Stephanie's dad, Robert Meadow, told "Kirkwoodgolf.co.uk"
"It was one of the most difficult courses I have come across. The greens were running at 13 (which is very fast indeed)."
Stephanie has been named in The Rolex Junior 2nd Team All-American. She finished 14th on the Polo Rankings, narrowly missing out on a place in the 1st Team award. The top 12 gain the 1st team.
On the Golfweek ranking system Stephanie is presently No 10 in the USA.
Robert Meadow says his daughter's forthcoming schedule is:
November 6-8: Golfweek Invitational.
November 21-27 - Polo Golf Junior Classic.
January 6-9: Orange Blossom Tour - Harder Hall Women’s Invitational
January 13-16: Orange Blossom Tour South Atlantic Amateur Championship (known as The Sally).
