Gullane trainee professional Heather MacRae reckons she can make her presence felt when competing against the men on the Tartan Tour next year.
The former British women's open amateur stroke-play champion missed the cut when she became only the second woman to play in the Scottish Professionals' Championship at Gleneagles earlier this season.
She's since played in another couple of events against the men and is doing so again in this week's PGA World Hickory Open at Gullane.
"This year has definitely given me the confidence that I can play and compete with the men," said MacRae. "Next season I want to turn up at events playing well and not feeling tired. I'm not saying I can win events against the men but I know I can compete with them."
MacRae was speaking after her first round in the hickory event, an 84 - 11 strokes behind the leaders - being an improvement on her debut last year, when it was played over one round.
Heather's boss at Gullane, Alasdair Good, playing with hickory shafts for the first time, was one of three sharing the lead on 73.
