Scottish match-play and stroke-play foursomes

Perth Ladies and Briggs girls

take honours at Forfar


Perth Ladies (represented by Anne Sidey and Francoise Guild and Myrtle Mailer, left to right in SLGA image on right) won the Scottish women's foursomes match-play title at Forfar Golf Club today.
In the semi-finals Troon's Sara Ann Bottomley and Angela Fergusson beat Aboyne's Elizabeth Brown and Judy Slater 3 and 2 while Perth Ladies (Myrtle Mailer and Anne Sidey) beat Murcar Links' Donna Pocock and Carol Wilson by 3 and 2.
In the final, Perth Ladies beat Troon Ladies, for whom Irene Smith replaced Angela Fergusson, by 2 and 1.
In the play-off for third place, Murcar Links, for whom Laura McLardy was the third member of the team, beat Aboyne by one hole.
The Scottish women's foursomes stroke-play title at the same venue was won by Kilmacolm sisters Megan and Eilidh Briggs with a gross round of two-under-par 70. Megan is the Scottish women's amateur champion.
They won by four strokes from Helen Faulds and Helen Robertson (Douglas Park).
Lynne Terry and Ros Dunsmuir (Cruden Bay) had the best net score of 71.5 off a handicap of 6.5. Runners-up were Lindsay Mathie and Anne Laing (Windyhil) with a net 72 off seven.
