STRONG FIELD FOR NORTH OF
SCOTLAND WOMEN’S
CHAMPIONSHIP
AT NEWMACHAR
Alford’s Laura Murray, Emily Ogilvy (Auchterarder) and Katy McNicoll (Carnoustie Ladies), all of whom play off +1, are the highest-rated players, on paper, in a numerically strong field of 82 for the North of Scotland women’s amateur golf championship over the Newmachar Golf Club’s Hawkshill course from July 6 to 8.
The three-day event opens with a qualifying stroke-play round and progresses into scratch and handicap match-play.
Laura Walker (Muckhart), pictured above by Cal Carson Golf Agency, and Jane Yellowlees (Murrayshall) are the only previous tournament winners in the field. Playing out of Nairn Dunbar, Laura beat Emily Ogilvy in the 2007 final at Lossiemouth while Jane beat Perth & Kinross team-mate Claire Meir (Muckhart) in the 2000 final at Glenisla.
