England’s Katie Mundy wins

marathon US play-off

NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY ENGLISH WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION
English student golfer Katie Mundy continued her love affair with US college golf when she won a marathon seven-hole sudden-death play-off to claim her fourth title from five events.
Katie, 18, from Dunwood Manor in Hampshire, has won tournament after tournament since joining Western Texas College earlier this term. Her latest victory was in the Tarleton State University Coca Cola Spring Invitational at Harbour Lakes Golf Club in Granbury, Texas.
She shot rounds of 81, in strong winds, and four-under-par 68 to tie first place – and take her place in a play-off.
“I eventually won after seven holes of sudden death where we parred five holes and bogeyed one before I managed to win the seventh hole with a par,” said Katie, pictured by courtesy of Leaderboardphotography.com
She also had the added bonus of a hole in one in the practice round!
Katie was in England’s winning team at the 2008 girls’ home internationals and was a member of the English Women’s Golf Association Under-18 Squad before starting university.
