Laura Davies (81) drops back to last

as Paula Creamer leads in Thailand

Almost as big a story as American Paul Creamer taking the third-round lead with a five-under-par 67 in the $1.45 million Honda LPGA Thailand tournament is the fact that Laura Davies, a winner Down Under just a few weeks ago, had a rock-bottom 81 and is lying last of the 60 competitors.
Laura, pictured right, has had a triple bogey 7 in each of her three rounds, at the 10th in the first round, at the 17th in round 2 and at the 10th again in the third round. The big-hitting English player, now in her 40s, also had a 7 at the long sixth today.
She was out in four-over-par 40 with bogeys at the first and third and that double bogey 7 at the sixth. Laura came home in 41 with the triple bogey 7 at the 10th and single shots dropped at the 15th and 18th. She did not have a single bogey all day. There is no cut in this tournament at Siam Country Club, Chonburi in Thailand.
Paula Creamer had consecutive birdies on holes Nos. 12, 13 and 14 to finish with a three-round total of 11-under 205, putting her three strokes ahead of Lorena Ochoa (68) and former Duke star Brittany Lang (71).
“I started off with a birdie on the first hole which is always a good start,” Creamer said. “From there on, I just had a lot of good iron shots. I hit more greens today than I had the other two days."
Ochoa, the top-ranked Mexican star making her first start of the season, started with a bogey but then had five birdies to get within striking distance.
“Sometimes when you start off bad you get angry and motivated at the same time,” Ochoa said. “Now I’m in a good position in the tournament.”
Lang led after two bogey-free rounds. She bogeyed the fourth in the third round, but was still in contention for her first LPGA win.
“I left a lot of strokes out there and feel very confident that I will go out tomorrow and shoot a low score,” Lang said.
Australian Karrie Webb (69) was fourth, a shot ahead of Hee Young Park of South Korea, Creamer expects a challenge in the final round even though she has a three-stroke "cushion."
“I can’t control other players,” she said. “I can only control my game out there. I have a lot of confidence about how I am playing. I will have to go out tomorrow and play the way I have played for the last two days.”
