Paul Ferrier matches par of 72 on
his debut for UNC-Charlotte
and first trip to California
Paul Ferrier, the 2007 Scottish boys' match-play champion and member at Baberton Golf Club, Edinburgh, finally got to make his debut for the University of North Carolina-Charlotte team this week - and hasn't the boy done well!
Paul, pictured right, matched the par of 72 over a course much longer than he ever played in Scotland - 7,119 yards with a par of 72.
The bonus for young Ferrier is that he has been on his first trip to California to compete in the CordeValle Collegiate at CordeValle, San Martin.
Paul was lying a creditable joint 10th in a field of 76 after his 72 which left him three shots behind the joint pacemakers, Sihwan Kim (Stanford) and Matthew Giles (Southern California.
Two more Southern California team players, Tim Sluiter and Jamie Lovemark were sharing third place on 70.
