Freshman Ferrier is playing well on
US college circuit debut in California

Baberton Golf Club member Paul Ferrier, a freshman student at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, is doing well in his debut tournament on the American college circuit.
With one round to play in the CordeValle Collegiate at CordeValle, San Martin in California, 19-year-old Edinburgh player, the 2007 Scottish boys' match-play champion, is lying joint 12th in a field of 76 players.
Ferrier matched the par of 72 over a course much longer than he would be accustomed to at home - 7,119 yards - in his first round and he had a 74 in yesterday's (TUESDAY) second round for four-over-par tally of 146. He has had five birdies so far and has kept a double bogey off his card so far.
Tim Sluiter (Southern California University) leads with a pair of 70s for 140.
Paul Ferrier is the second-best UNC-Charlotte player from a squad of six in the tournament. Team-mate David Rawluk, a senior-year student from Dublin, is sharing third place on 142 after scores of 74 and 68, the best second-round return by anyone.
