Emma Taylor loses four-shot
lead to finish 4th in Florida
Emma Taylor from Devon, a student at Bethune Cookman College, Daytona Beach, Florida, finished joint fourth in a field of 45 players at the Holiday Inn Express/Hatter women's college tournament at Victoria Hills Golf Club, DeLand, Florida.
Over a par-72 course of 6,056yd, Emma, pictured right, jumped four shots ahead with an excellent opening score of 71 but she did not reach that high standard again over the final two rounds, finishing with 80 and 77 for a total of 228 - eight strokes behind the winner, Danielle Jackson (Stetson University) with 76, 73 and 71 for four-over 220.
Emma's BCC team-mate, Hannah Bews from Dorset, came joint 34th with scores of 86, 81 and 80 for a total of 247.
Host university Stetson - not surprisingly known as "The Hatters" - won the team title by a big margin from Daytona State with Bethune Cookman joint fourth in a field of eight teams.
