Kylie Walker wins SLGA Order

of Merit by more than 1,000

points from Roseanne Niven

Kylie Walker (Buchanan Castle) has won the Scottish Ladies Golfing Association's Order of Merit for the 2008 season.

Highlights of a season in which Kylie produced a clutch of high finishes would have to be victory in the St Rule Trophy and being beaten in a play-off by Roseanne Niven for the British women's open amateur stroke-play championship at Malone GC, near Belfast.

Kylie finished with 3250 points, more than 1,000 ahead of her "British" conqueror, Roseanne Niven (Crieff).

Considering she missed the early-season events because she is a student at the University of California-Berkeley, Roseanne did very well indeed to amass 2187pt. Her highlights were the aforementioned triumph in the British stroke-play and being the only British or Irish player to reach the semi-finals of the British women's open amateur championship at North Berwick, having earlier beaten Spain's Azahara Munoz, winner of the American women's college circuit's NCAA championship.

Aberdeen student Laura Murray from Alford came third with 2030pt.
