Newcastle's Nicky Maddison, a freshman student at Hutchinson Community College, Kansas, gave another sound performance in the 2008 NJCAA National Preview tournament at Hampton Cove, Huntsville in Alabama.

Over the course where the 2009 NJCAA divisional championship will be played next May, Nicky scored 73, 72 and 72 for a one-over-par total of 217, which earned him a share of sixth place in a field of 90 behind the winner, Matt Law (Western Texas) with 69, 69 and 72 for six-under-210.

Nicky did not get much support from his team-mates because, despite his noble effort, Hutchinson finished 13th of 18 in the team event, some 39 shots behind the winners.
