Suffolk pair win Australian Spoons

Suffolk golfers Theresa Haslam-Wise and Jane Watson won the national finals of the Australian Spoons, the Stableford foursomes competition for England’s bronze division golfers. The pair, from Bury St Edmunds Golf Club, scored 28 points in the final at Long Ashton in Gloucestershire, contested by partnerships from four regions.
“We are over the moon to win this, absolutely delighted ” said Jane, who plays off 26.
Theresa, a 23-handicapper, added: “We loved the course and thought it was so beautiful. We really, really enjoyed playing on it – but we found it very challenging!”
They won their club qualifying event with 39pt and then went on to score a clear win in the Midland regional final, which was held in pouring rain at Bury St Edmunds.
