Six out of six: That's the target of
England seniors at Little Aston

PRESS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE ENGLISH WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION
England will launch their bid for a sixth successive Seniors’ Home International crown when the annual round robin matches start tomorrow at Little Aston Golf Club near Birmingham.
England have won this annual event every year since it started in 2003 and is fielding the same team which finished fourth at the recent European seniors’ team championship. The side includes senior champion Sye Dye and senior strokeplay champion Janet Collingham.
The team were playing their second practice round today and captain Cathy Bowerbank commented: “They all like the course and they are raring to go.”
Lining up against them are Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
Scotland, runners-up in last year's event, are fielding four of the players from their 2007 line-up. Among them are their seniors’ match-play champion, Lorna Bennett, and newly crowned Scottish veterans’ champion, Fiona de Vries.
Former Curtis Cup player Vicki Thomas, who has won both the Welsh match-play title and the Irish seniors’ open crown this season, will be hoping her individual success can rub off on her Welsh team-mates.
Strokeplay champion, Jane Rees also lines up in a strong side. Ireland’s team includes Mary McKenna, the eight-times Irish champion and the captain of the GB&I team for the 2009 Vagliano Trophy and 2010 Curtis Cup, and Irish seniors’ close champion Sheena O’Brien Kenney.
For the first time this year the teams will play three morning foursomes and five singles. Previously there have been just two foursomes matches.
