Kylie beats cut but Gemma and
Laura fail to survive
Kylie Walker's four birdies in the space of 10 holes could not quite wipe out a triple bogey 7 at the second and five bogeys in the second round of the European women's individual amateur golf championship at Schloss Schonborn Golf Club, near Vienna in Austria today.
Kylie, who birdied the seventh, ninth, 12th and 16th, finished on four-over-par 77 after an opening-day 78 which also included a triple bogey. Her 36-hole tally of nine-over 155 had her back in joint 40th place, a disappointing follow-up to last week's performance when she was beaten in a play-off by fellow Scot Roseanne Niven for the British women's open amateur stroke-play championship at Malone Golf Club, near Belfast.
But Kylie did survive the 36-hole cut with a couple of shots to spare.
All those with halfway totals of 156 or less qualified to play the final two rounds.
That meant the end of the tournamant for Majorca-based Scot Lauren Mackin and Hilton Park's Gemma Webster.
Lauren had an 83 for 162 and a share of 90th place.
Gemma had an 81 for 167 and joint 112th place in a field of 132.
Leading the field is Christel Boeljon (Netherlands) with 69 and 73 for 142 - leading by one shot from two Spaniards, Carlota Ciganda and Maria Hernandez, and Italy's Giuila Molinaro.
Laura Gonzalez-Escallon, the Belgian who won the British girls' title at Monifieth a couple of weeks ago is sharing fifth place on 145.
The leading English players are Rachel Jennings and Elizabeth Bennett on 148 and 149 respectively.
All the English squad beat the cut with the exception of Rachel Connor, teenage daughter of the Scots-born Manchester club professional.
