Michele Wie misses cut by a mile
in US PGA Tour event in Reno
Michele Wie missed the cut by mile - nine strokes to be precise - after a mediocre second round of 80 in the US PGA Tour's Legends Reno Tahoe Open in Nevada.
The Hawiaan threatened to become the first female since Babe Zaharias in 1945 to beat the cut in a US PGA Tour event when she opened her campaign with a one-over-par 73.
But she had only 24 putts in the first round. Her putting could not save her second time round and she had an 80 for 153.
Scot Martin Laird made the cut with one shot to spare with scores of 73 and 70 for 143.
At the top of the leaderboard it's Parker McLachlin (US) on 10-under-par 130 with scores of 68 and 62 by four shots from Australian Nick Flanagan (69-65) and American John Merrick (67-67) on 134.
