Gemma Webster earns top seeding
for Strathtyrum Trophy
Scotland international and Ohio State University women's golf team captain Gemma Webster (Hilton Park) headed the qualifiers with scores of 72 and 78 for 150 - one shot ahead of last year's beaten finalist, Ann Ramsay (Kirriemuir) - at the Strathtyrum Trophy women's open tournament, organised by the St Andrews Links Trust.
Former champion Karen Marshall and her mother Joan both made it through to the match-play stages.
Past Scottish universities champion Ann Ramsay (Kirriemuir) was the No 2 qualifier with 75 and 76 for 151.
Karen Marshall, team manager for the Scottish Under-18 girls team at Panmure Golf Club last week and the European girls team championship at Murcar Links before that, qualified in joint third place with a pair of 78s.
Defending champion Marilyn Henderson, based in Germany and a member of the West Rhine club, qualified on 166 with scores of 80 and 86.
