Michele Thomson second reserve for place
in Ricoh British Women's Open field
Scottish champion and Curtis Cup player Michele Thomson came second in an 11-player play-off to be alternates (reserves) should anyone drop out of the championship field before or even on the day of the first round (Thursday) of the Ricoh Women's British Open.
In the marathon play-off, she parred the first and second holes and then birdied the 17th.
This means if two players pull out, then Michele Thomson steps in to fill the second vacancy at Sunningdale.
One spin-off from this is that Michele is entitled to practise over the championship course at Sunningdale on Tuesday and Wednesday.
