Curtis Cup Scot's 76 in Ricoh Women's British Open
Krystle's triple bogey 7 takes
shine off four birdies
Krystle Caithness did not do herself justice in the first round of the Ricoh British Women's Open championship at Sunningdale Golf Club today.
While American veteran Juli Inkster was setting the space with a seven-under-par 65, the 19-year-old Curtis Cup amateur from Cellardyke, Fife was taking 76 shots, four over par.
Krystle's triple bogey 7 at the seven took the shine off four birdies, at the second, third, 10th and 11th in halves of 39 and 37.
She also bogeyed the first and fifth and had a weak finish with shots dropped at the 15th, 17th and 18th.
Inkster had an eagle 2 at the ninth and birdies at the first, fifth, 10th, 12th and 14th in bogey-free halves of 32 and 33.
Title-holder Lorena Ochoa from Mexico also finished poorly by her lofty standards. She bogeyed the 16th and 17th in halves of 33 and 36 for a 69, the same score as Sweden's Helen Alfredsson who won the Evian Masters on Sunday.
Annika Sorenstam and Karrie Webb matched the par of 72.
