Perth & Kinross county championship thrills
Laura, Emily in last four after
both rally from three down
Top seed Laura Walker (Muckhart) survived only at the 19th against Jacqueline Sneddon (Alyth) in the first round of the Perth & Kinross women's county championship at Alyth Golf Club today.
Jacqueline had been three up at one point in the tie but Laura had cut her deficit to one, going down the 18th. Laura staged a grandstand finish of birdie-birdie to complete her comeback
Laura went on to beat Shona Leighton (Alyth) 3 and 1 to set up a Sunday morning semi-final with the No 5 seed Gillian Wallace (Glenisla).
The other semi-final will be a replay of last year's final in which Alexandra Bushby (Strathmore) beat Emily Ogilvy (Auchterarder) who was three down at one stage of her quarter-final against past county captain Janet Griffiths before winning on the 17th.
Emily is making a comeback after a severe shoulder injury received on a gymnasium machine during the winter.
Two juniors, Erin Millar (Pitlochry) and Allie Burnett (Dunkeld) are through to the sem-finals of the handicap championship.
