Nairn exile leads way in Alyth qualifier
Debutante Laura is top seedin P&K championship
Former Scottish girls match-play champion Laura Walker from Nairn, pictured right, making her debut in the Perth & Kinross women's county golf championship after moving south to take up a teaching post, gained the No 1 seed berth in the match-play stages with a score of 75 in the qualifying round at Alyth Golf Club this evening (Monday).
Jillian Milne (Craigie Hill) also had a 75 but lost out on a comparison of the inward halves.
Scotland international Emily Ogilvy (Auchterarder), making a comeback after being out of action since early in the year with a serious shoulder injury, ran up a 9 at the fifth but did not get rattled and qualified in third place on 77, the same score as Carol Muir (Craigie Hill) and Gillian Wallace (Glenisla).
Last year Emily lost in the final to Alexandra Bushby (Strathmore) who qualified in seventh place with a 78.
Perth & Kinross county squad members Annabel Niven (Crieff) and Eve Muirhead (Pitlochry) would have qualified with scores of 76 and 80 respectively but neither is available for the match-play stages which begin on Saturday.
