A FEW DOLLARS MORE FOR VIKKI LAING
AFTER GOOD FINISH IN EL PASO CLASSIC
Vikki Laing from Musselburgh finished joint 29th to earn $632 for a level par total of 216 in the US Futures Tour's El Paso Classic at the Underwood Golf Complex, El Paso in Texas (Sunday, USA time).
The 27-year-old former Curtis Cup player, who was a winner on America's No 2 female professional golf tour last year, had ever improving rounds of 74, 72 and 70 over the 6,447yd, par-72 course.
In her final round, which lifted her up the scoreboard from a tie for 29th place, she had birdies at the sixth, ninth, 11th, 13th and 17th but bogeys at the 10th, 12th and 18th.
Kristina Tucker, from Stockholm, won the $11,900 top prize by three shots with an 11-under-par total of 205, made up of scores of 66, 68 and 71.
It was her second win as a professional. The first was on the Swedish Telia Tour. Her husband Paul plays on the Hooters Tour, one of the States' satellite circuits.
Five of the top nine finishers and six of the leading 13 come from South Korea.
