FLORENTYNA SHARING SECOND
PLACE WITH ONE ROUND TO GO
IN JUNIOR ORANGE BOWL

Florentyna Parker, picture left by courtesy of Tom Ward, goes into Sunday's fourth and final round of the 44th Junior Orange Bowl girls' championship in a triple tie for second place, only one shot behind the 13-year-old leader, Argentina's Victoria Tanco.
Tanco scored a third-round 71 over the par-70 course for a 54-hole tally of three-over-par 213.
Germany-based club professional's daughter Florentyna Parker, a member at Royal Birkdale, had a 72 for 214, the same total as Lindy Duncan (United States) and Florida-based Italian youngster Giulia Molinaro.

Florentyna's older brother Ben Parker won the Junior Orange Bowl boys' title in 2005.
In the boys' championship, Florida-based German Sean Enhaus saw his eight-stroke lead after 36 holes shrink to four with 18 holes to play after a two-over-par 72 for a 201 tally.
Christiano Terragni (Italy), who had a 67, is lying second on 205.
Andrew Johnston (North Middlesex) had a 71 for 219 to be joint 37th while Darren Renwick from Worthing had a 75 for 221 and a share of 44th place.

DAVID MACKINTOSH REPORTS FROM THE COURSE:

A third round 72 reduced Sean Einhaus’ lead going into the final round to a four-shot advantage over Christiano Terragni, five ahead of a three-player group that includes pre-tournament favorite Peter Uihlein.
The superb short game that aided the 17-year old German amateur champion to record-settling 11-under par halfway position and an eight-shot lead deserted him in the final stages of Saturday’s testing conditions.
“My two-under par front-nine was steady, just one bogey, but the back-nine was a big struggle,” he said. “On the 10th I hit a good approach to 10 feet and walked off with a three-putt bogey. I then missed from four feet on the 11th for birdie. The next holes I didn’t play so well and my putter went cold. It was a very tough day.”
Bogeys at 17 and 18 from mid-fairway were uncharacteristic but, although disappointed, Einhaus is not dismayed: “Maybe I tried too hard. All I can do tomorrow is try to relax mentally as I did on the first days and let rest take care of itself.”
Italy’s Terragni vaulted into solo-second with sparkling 67 while Uihlein (69) could have increased the pressure on Einhaus but for a wayward drive at the final hole.
In the girls' division 13-year old Argentine stand-out Victoria Tanco leads by a stroke after a third-round 71 for three-over-par 213.
After holing an 85-yard wedge approach at the par-5 16th, Tanco failed to capitalize on her remarkable eagle with a three-putt double-bogey at the 17th. “After being in a greenside bunker I missed twice from three feet and it was very annoying,” she said, “but at least it didn’t cost me the tournament.”
Tanco is only 13 but golf-mature way beyond most 18-year-olds.
Closest challengers are Floridian Lindy Duncan, British Ladies Under-18 stroke-play champion Florentyna Parker - making her sixth and last appearance in the tournament - and Italy’s Giulia Molinaro who was the leading girl in The Duke of York Young Champions' Trophy tournament at Dundonald Links this year.
Twelve-year-old South Florida phenomenon Alexis Thompson, winner of last week’s Doral Publix, carded 74, three shots off the pace. Alexis Thompson is the biggest, strongest, most powerful-hitting 12-year-old girl golfer I've ever seen.
What is totally facinating is how incredibly far all these kids hit it nowadays. The wonderfully remodelled (originally designed by Donald Ross) Biltmore at 6,699yd cringes every time youngsters from Latvia, China and Taiwan (and Sean) blast it to unheard-of places here, where the marshals look both ways and wonder where that ball came from!
If the future of pro golf starts here, and it does (witness the list of past winners) then by 2010 the US PGA Tour will need a bunch of new venues!
