POLLY SITTING PRETTY IN JOINT FIFTH PLACE
AT DURAMED FUTURES TOUR QUALIFIER
Londoner Polly Willett is in joint fifth place in the huge starting field of over 300 as the Duramed Futures Tour enters its third day over three courses at Lakeland, Florida.
Polly has scored 69 and 73 for a 36-hole tally of 142. She is only three shots behind the new leader, Sara Brown, an amateur from Tucson, Arizona.
Pamela Feggans from Ayr is in joint 45th position after rounds of 73 and 75 for 148.
Reinstated amateur Natalie Cruse from Surrey, a former student at Coastal Carolina University, is on 150 with scores of 72 and 78 for a share of 72nd place.
Another past player on the US college circuit, Brenda McLarnon from Belfast is back in joint 147th place on 155 with scores of 76 and 79.
There will be a cut to the leading 90 and ties after Thursday's third round.
Joint overnight leader Elena Robles became the second player to be disqualified for using one of the modern electronic devices that tells them the precise distance to the hole.
The devices themselves are not illegal unless the organising committee of a particular tournament declares them so. The Futures Tour issued all players with a note, saying that measuring devices would not be permitted.
The field has been whittled down to 284 with the elimination of those who have not scored 87 or better in either of the rounds so far. This is a Duramed Futures Tour regulation.
The courses being used are all par-72s - Cleveland Heights (6,203yd), Huntington Hills (6,103yd), Schalamar Creek (6,060yd).
