NANCY LOPEZ TO CAPTAIN US JUNIOR
SOLHEIM CUP TEAM IN 2009
Nancy Lopez, the 2005 US Solheim Cup captain and a four-time LPGA player of the year, has been selected as captain of the 2009 Ping Junior Solheim Cup U.S. Team.
"This is a new challenge and an opportunity to get to know the players of tomorrow,” Nancy said.
“I feel like I’ve been out of the loop for many years, so to meet the new superstars of the LPGA excites me a whole bunch.”
Lopez was inducted into the LPGA Hall of Fame in 1987 and the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1989.
The 2009 event will be the fifth Junior Solheim Cup, with the all-time series tied 2-2. The host team has won in all four instances.
