ROSEANNE FINISHES WITH BIRDIE BLITZ
TO CLAIM 11TH PLACE IN STAR US FIELD


Roseanne Niven from Crieff, a second-year student at the University of California Berkeley, shot ler lowest round so far on the US women's college circuit - a three-under-par 68 - to improve from joint 28th overnight to a final placing of joint 11th in a top-quality field of 93 for the Stanford Intercollegiate over Tiger Woods' old stamping ground at Stanford University, California.
Roseanne, 18, birdied the fifth, sixth, seventh, 11th and 12th with bogeys at the first and 18th in halves of 33 and 35 over the 6,089yd course. With earlier rounds of 73 and 77, she totalled 218 - seven shots behind the surprise winner, Stacy Lewis (Arkansas) with 69, 72 and 70 for 211.
Overnight leader American Curtis Cup ace Amanda Blumenherst had double bogey 6s at the fifth and sixth in finishing with a 76 for joint fifth place on 215.
English women's amateur stroke-play champion Jodi Ewart (New Mexico University), slipped from a share of third place overnight to a final position of tied 13th. She had scores of 69, 75 and 75 for 219. Starting at the 10th, Jodi had birdies at the 12th and two short holes, the second and eighth. But she had seven single bogeys.
Krystle Caithness (Georgia University), 18, from Cellardyke, Fife dropped down to a final placing of joint 38th after being in the top 11 on the first day. Her scores were 73, 76 and 81 for 230.
The British international had a triple bogey 7 at the fourth and a double bogey 7 at the long 16th in halves of 40 and 41. She did birdied the long seventh and 15th.
The demise of their leading player, Amanda Blumenherst, also cost title favourites Duke University from Durham, North Carolina the team award.
Former British girl open champions, Azahara Munoz from Spain and Sweden's Anna Nordqvist helped Arizona State University finish as team champions with a total of 863 over the three days. Duke (866) finished second with UCLA (872) third, Arkansas (886) fourth, California (890) fifth and Georgia (896) sixth. New Mexico (922) finished 11th of 18.
