LAURA MURRAY WINS WOMEN
STUDENTS' TOURNAMENT AT
FAIRMONT ST ANDREWS
Robert Gordon University student Laura Murray from Alford won the Scottish Universities Order of Merit women's stroke-play 36-hole tournament over the Devlin and Torrance courses at Fairmont St Andrews Bay today.
Laura, pictured right, a Scotland international player who played for the Ladies Golf Union Select against the GB&I girls in the recent match at North Berwick, had rounds of 79 and 76 for an aggregate of 155, one shot ahead of Emma Fairnie (Edinburgh University) who scored 80 and 76.
Maura Diamond (Napier College) and Morag Macpherson (St Andrews University) shared third place on 157.
Liam McLaughlan (University of Highlands & Islands) was the highest placed North and North-east student in the men's event. Laim finished seventh on 157 with rounds of 79 and 78 for 157 - 16 shots behind the winner, Nick Feinberg, an American-born St Andrews student, who scored 67 and 74 for 141.
Adrian Styles (Robert Gordon University) came 12th with 74 and 87 for 161.
Stirling 1 and 2 teams finished first and second in the men's team event.
