SALLY WATSON GOES INTO FINAL ROUND IN
JT SIXTH PLACE WHILE LAURA BOWS OUT
South Queensferry 16-year-old amateur Sally Watson went into the final round of the De Vere Scottish Ladies Open in joint sixth place at The Carrick at Cameron House - which is more than Solheim Cup player Laura Davies did.
Laura failed to qualify for the final 18 holes which are being squeezed in before it gets dark this evening. She had scores of 75 and 82 for 157, three shots too many to survive the cut.
In contrast, Sally scored 70 and 75 for 145, only six shots off the 36-hole leader, Sweden's Sophie Gustafson with 71 and 68 for 139.
Sally Watson was not the only member of the recent Scotland team in the women's home internationals to survive the cut - Carly Booth (Comrie) on 148 and Kelsey MacDonald (Nairn Dunbar) (151) also made it, but Scottish women's amateur champion Jenna Wilson (Strathaven) missedd out with a pair of 79s for 158.
Heather MacRae (Dunblane), on her debut as a professional, failed to qualify on 158, also with two 79s.
