JACK HILUTA'S PROMISING START FOR
SOUTH ALABAMA UNIVERSITY
England boy international Jack Hiluta from Chelmsford made a very promising debut on the American college circuit for South Alabama University.
Jack shot 70, 70 and 71 for a five-under-par total and finished joint eighth in the South Alabama Jaguar Intercollegiate tournament at Azalea City Golf Club, Mobile in Alabama.
Hiluta finished ahead of team-mate Johnny Caldwell, the Walker Cup player from Belfast.
Caldwell, a senior student at South Alabama, scored 74, 66 and 72 for 212 and a share of 10th place.
Another South Alabama player, Daniel Burns, tied with Kent Bulle (Middle Tennessee State) for victory on 13-under-par 203. Burns shot 65, 70 and 68; Bulle 68, 65 and 70.
Even with three players in the top 10, South Alabama did not win the team title. That went to Middle Tennessee State with a total of 826 - 13 ahead of second-placed South Alabama.
The par-72 course measured 6,850 yards.
