CHARLENE REID JOINT THIRD IN
LADY FALCON INVITATIONAL
Charlene Reid from Ballymoney, Northern Ireland, a third-year student at Pfeiffer University, finished joint third in the Lady Falcon Invitational college tournament at Old North State Club, New London, North Carolina.
Over a par-72, 5,954yd course, Charlene had rounds of 82 and 75 for 157 - five shots behind the winner, Franziska Blum (Newberry) who scored 75 and 77 for 152.
Charlene's 75 was the best second-round in the competition and tied the winner's opening round as the best in the tournament.
Two other Pfeiffer University students from this side of the Atlantic did not do so well. Nikki Taggart, a senior from Belfast, scored 85 and 94 for 179 and a share of 32nd place.
Freshman Kayleigh Giles from an undisclosed area of England was joint 36th on 185 with rounds of 96 and 89.
Pfeiffer (647) won the team event easily from Wingate (669) in a field of 11 teams.
