MURCAR LINKS WIN LYON FOURSOMES

Murcar Links ended Aberdeen Ladies’ bid to complete a hat-trick of Lyon Inter-club Foursomes Trophy triumphs by beating them by 16 holes in the final of the double foursomes tournament at Balgownie today.
Murcar Links, represented by Laura McLardy, Carol Wilson, Donna Pocock and Frances Neish, scored some big-margin wins over the two days, including a 24-hole win over Dunecht House in the morning semi-finals.
Murcar Links last won the Lyon Trophy three years ago.
Aberdeen Ladies had to draft in a reserve, Sophie Fil, for the indisposed Ellie Whyte, in the semi-final and final
In the last stage, Laura McLardy and Carol Wilson finished six holes up on Sheena Wood and Sophie Fil while Donna Pocock and Francis Neish beat Carol Whicher and Lesley Hardie by 10 holes.

SEMI-FINALS

Aberdeen Ladies bt Kemnay by 13 holes (S Wood, S Fil 14, J Whitehead, S Taylor 0; C Whicher, L Hardie 0, Y Moir, C Gordon 1).
Murcar Links bt Dunecht House by 24 holes (L McLardy, C Wilson 12, A Anderson, M Chalmers 0; D Pocock, F Neish 12, P Morton, S Leheny 0).

FINAL
Murcar Links bt Aberdeen Ladies by 16 holes (McLardy, Wilson 6, Wood, Fil 0; Pocock, Neish 10, Whicher, Hardie 0).
