Irish Ladies Golf Union Press Release
2007 MIELE IRELAND LADIES INTER-CLUB FOUR-BALL
SOUTH AND WEST REGIONAL FINALS
at Mallow Golf Club.
MALLOW AND MOUNTBELLEW THROUGH TO SEMI-FINALS
Mallow and Mountbellew are through to the All-Ireland semi-finals of the Miele Ireland Ladies Inter-club Four-ball following victories over Thurles and Birr in the South and West Regional Finals held at Mallow Golf Club today.
Mallow used home advantage to great effect when they proved much too strong for a Thurles side making their first appearance at this latter stage of the competition.
Mallow used their wealth of experience over their parkland course to overpower Thurles 3-1 and book their place in the semi-finals against either the K Club or Co. Armagh.
Meanwhile, in the Western Regional Final, Mountbellew extracted revenge for last year’s Regional Final defeat when they turned the tables on title-holders Birr.
Determined not to relive last year’s painful memories, Mountbellew found a purple patch of their own to win the top three matches and snuff out any hopes Birr had of reviving the fixture.
Both Mallow and Mountbellew now advance to the final four where they join The K Club and Co. Armagh who saw off the challenges of Dublin City and Letterkenny respectively last week.
The semi-final matches will be held at Mount Juliet on Saturday , September 15 with the All-Ireland Final taking place the following day.
