English Ladies Golf Association Press Release

KELLY v HENRIETTA IN ALL-ENGLAND BRITISH
GIRLS' CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL IN SOUTH WALES

Manchester's Kelly Tidy meets Yeovil’s Henrietta Brockway in this afternoon’s all-England final of the British girls’ championship at Southerndown, Wales.
Kelly, 15, and an England girl international, beat 12-year-old Irish twin Lisa Maguire 5 and 4 in their semi-final.
ELGA’s national junior coach Pat Smillie said: “Kelly played very steady, percentage golf. She was very consistent and had birdies on the sixth and 10th."

Additional information from other sources:

Kelly, the 18th qualifier took command of the proceedings against her young opponent, who qualified in 43rd position, after losing the first hole. She then won the third, fifth, sixth and seventh to be three up at the turn. Kelly then clinched victory by winning the 10th and 11th to go five up.
"Though disappointed to lose this morning, I am delighted with how I played this week” uttered an exhausted Maguire after seven grueling rounds of intense competition.
“My ball striking and putting were just so solid all week that I hope I can be even better at next year’s championship at Monifieth near Padraig’s Carnoustie” she added with an Irish smile
Henrietta Brockway, the No 24 qualifier who knocked out first European Young Masters girls champion Carly Booth (Comrie) and then the No 1 seed Sally Watson (Elie & Earlsferry) to reach the semi-finals, beat the No 5 seed Sara Monberg (Denmark) in the other semi-final this morning.
The first seven holes were halved before Sara won the eighth but Henrietta hit back by squaring the match at the ninth and then going into a three-hole lead by winning the 11th, 12th and 15th.
