FOUR SCOTS AMATEURS COME THROUGH
WOMEN'S BRITISH OPEN 1st QUALIFIER

Four Scots amateurs – Heather MacRae (Dunblane New), Sally Watson (Elie & Earlsferry Ladies), Louise Kenney (Pitreavie) and Emily Ogilvy (Auchterarder) were among the 29 players with scores of two-over-par 74 or better who progress from the Ricoh Women’s British Open pre-qualifying round at The Berkshire Golf Club to the Final Qualifying at the St Andrews New Course on Monday, July 30.
Isabelle Maconi (Italy) won the pre-qualifier with a four-under-par score of 66.
Heather MacRae, pictured right, a former British women’s open amateur stroke-play champion, finished in joint second place with a 69 with contained birdies at the second, fifth, seventh, 11th, 14th and 18th in halves of 33 (three under par) and 36. She had a double bogey 6 at the 12th and a bogey at the 10th.
Sally Watson, only 16, finished joint ninth with a par-matching 72 in which she hit back with an eagle 3 at the 16th after a double bogey 6 at the 15th. She also had a birtdie at the fifth in halves of 36.
Louise Kenney had birdies at the third, fourth and 16th in halves of 34 and 38.
Scots among the non-qualifiers included current Scottish amateur champion Jenna Wilson (Strathaven) and three times past amateur champion Anne Laing (Vale of Leven).
