European women's team championship

SCOTS BEAT SLOVENIA TO REACH
SEMI-FINALS OF FLIGHT TWO

Scotland beat Slovenia 3 1/2-1 1/2 to reach the semi-finals of the Second Flight in the European women's team championship at Castelconturbia Golf Club, Italy.
Roseanne Niven and Rachael Livingstone lost the one foursomes tie but the Scots carried the day in the singles with wins by Jenna Wilson, Heather MacRae and Michele Thomson. Emily Ogilvy halved the fourth singles tie.
Also in the Second Flight, Ireland beat Norway 3-2, Austria beat Switzerland 4-1 and France beat the Netherlands 3-2.
In the championship flight, England had a good win over Belgium, 6 1/2-1/2, but Wales lost 5-2 to top seeds Spain.
