Play was suspended during the first round of the 2007 U.S. Women's Open on Thursday at Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club due to inclement weather in the area.
Players were unable to finish the second round as play was halted at 8:25 p.m. due to darkness. The original suspension of play was at 2:47 p.m. due to a dangerous weather situation and resumed at 6:23 p.m.
The full afternoon portion of the 156-player field (26 groups, 78 players) was still on the golf course when play was suspended and halted for the day. The first-round will resume on Friday at 7:30 a.m local time. The start of the second round will take place once the first round .
