LOTHIANS PLAYERS WIN MAJOR AWARDS AT CRIEFF

Lothians players won the major awards at the Ladies Golf Union Medal Scottish finals at Crieff Golf Club on Sunday.
Claire McGonagle (Whitekirk) won the Gold Medal with a net 71 but by the narrowest of margins from Elaine Whyte (Windyhill) who had the same score but lost out on the better inward half countback.
Patricia Capaldi (Broomieknowe) won the Silver Medal with a bit more to spare. Her net 72 off 22 gave her a three-stroke win from Elaine Scott (Canmore).
Twenty-four players, who had qualified through regional finals, contested the final. Close on 400 players competed in the LGU Medal eliminators at club level.

Prizewinners (Par 74, CSS 74)

Silver Division - Gold Medal winner - Claire McGonagle (Whitekirk) (8) 71 (better inward half), Elaine Whyte (Windyhill) (12) 71; Berenice Williams (Moffat) (18) 74.

Bronze Division - Silver Medal winner - Patricia Capaldi (Broomieknowe) (20) 72; Elaine Scott (Canmore) (20) 75 (better inward half), Tracey-Anne Whitelaw (Alloa) (28) 75.
