REBECCA HUDSON LETS VICTORY SLIP
OUT OF HER GRASP IN FINAL ROUND
OF SPANISH WOMEN'S OPEN

Rebecca Hudson allowed victory in the Spanish Women's Open to slip from her grasp at the Mediterraneo Country Club, Castellon today.
Leader after the first round and then back in the pole position after 54 holes, the Doncaster player had a weak final round of one-over-par 73 for 276. That allowed the Australian Nikki Garrett to win back the lead - and with it overall victory for the second tournament in a row - with a 70 for for 13-under-par 275.
Garrett was a stroke behind Hudson with three holes to play but the tables turned at the pivotal 154-yard par-3 16th where Rebecca made a disastrous error off the tee. Having played solidly all day, Hudson hit her six-iron tee shot into the water protecting the front of the green and was forced to take a drop. She then chipped on and two-putted resulting in a double-bogey 5.
Kathryn Imrie, the only Scot to make the final day, closed with a creditable 7o for one-over-par 289.
