Irish Ladies Golf Union Press Release

IT'S MARIAN v KAREN FOR IRISH LADIES' CLOSE TITLE

Marian Riordan (Tipperary) and Karen Delaney (Carlow) will face each other in the final of the
Lancôme Irish Ladies’ Close Championship at Lahinch Golf Club this afternoon.
Lisa Maguire, only 12 years old, had punched well above her weight all week and started brightly in her semi-final against Marian Riordan.
Lisa led by a single hole through to the ninth where Riordan birdied from 12 feet. Solid driving and accurate iron play saw her take a one-hole lead into 18 and closed out the match when her 30 foot putt died at the cup.
Karen Delaney (Carlow) struck the ball magnificently in her semi final match with Maura Morrin (The Curragh) and turned one up. Morrin eagled the 15th to level the match but missed from 6 feet at the next to let Delaney escape off her bunkered tee shot.
The 17th was halved in par and a fine up and down from the greenside bunker on 18 saw Delaney through after Morrin three putted from the front edge.

Results:
SEMI-FINALS
Karen Delaney (Carlow) bt Maura Morrin (The Curragh) 1 hole.
Marian Riordan (Tipperary) bt Lisa Maguire (Slieve Russell) 1 hole.
